Manipur BJP MLA's brother, 5 others surrender after student's murder

Six persons, including the brother of a BJP MLA, surrendered to Manipur police on Friday, accused of murdering a 21-year-old college student.

The accused allegedly barged into N Rohit's residence in Heirok part-II in Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district, on Wednesday and shot him dead. The attack also harmed Rohit's father. Thokchom Putro Singh, younger brother of BJP's Thoubal MLA Thokchom Radheshyam, Ningthoujam Panan Singh, Thokchom Sanathoi Singh, Thokchom Henrik, Laishram Biken, and Khundongbam Nicky from Heirok are among the accused.

N Roshan, the deceased's brother, mentioned six people in his complaint to the police, including Putro. Roshan stated in his complaint that Putro was the one who murdered his younger sibling and shot at his father.

Police filed a case under relevant sections of the IPC based on the complaint. Rohit was killed just hours after a fight broke out between BJP and Congress supporters at Heirok Bazaar, in which one person was shot.
