Manipur Violence Updates: Army, Assam Rifles to get things back to normalcy

Imphal: The Indian Army, Air Force, and Assam Rifles, along with civil administration, have been working relentlessly to bring peace and normalcy back to violence-stricken Manipur.

An official statement on Friday said that the Army, Assam Rifles, and Air Force, together with civil administration, had laboriously worked over the previous 48 hours to reestablish law and order and resume normalcy in Manipur.

According to the statement, security forces' quick action allowed for the rescue of citizens from all communities trapped in conflict in various minority enclaves.

Following intercommunity riots that broke out in a few Manipur districts on May 3 and 4, the Manipur government requisitioned the Army and Assam Rifles.

Churachandpur, KPI, Moreh, and Kakching are now firmly under control thanks to the prompt and effective response, and no significant acts of violence have been reported since last night.

As per the statement, over the course of the previous 12 hours, the Imphal East and West districts experienced sporadic incidents of arson and attempts by adversarial elements to establish a blockade. In response to these incidents, the Security Forces were able to maintain control of the situation thanks to a firm and coordinated response as well as the introduction of additional columns.

The main efforts that were and are being carried out include proactive rescue operations, flag marches, area dominance, and interaction with residents and influencers to reassure them of their personal safety.

On Friday, a total of tenmore companies, nearly 1,000 personnels, of the Central Armed Police Forces were deployed to Manipur following orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
