Islamabad: Marriyum Aurangzeb, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), requested action against Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday for breaking the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) code of conduct. Khan reportedly staged public gatherings and utilised state resources in the run-up to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body election. "Imran Khan should be penalised for breaking provisions 181, 233, and 234 of the code of conduct," Marriyum added. "The Prime Minister's behaviour demonstrates that he does not respect the constitution or the laws," she continued. Criticizing the Khan, Aurangzeb claimed that in his next speech, the premier should discuss "billions of dollars in illicit foreign funding, money laundering, the failing economy, unemployment, rising inflation, 10 million jobs, and five million houses." As per reports, the ECP issued notices to Prime Minister Imran Khan and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PT-I) leaders on March 12 for attending an election rally in Lower Dir in violation of the ECP's rule of conduct. PT-I officials were handed notifications by the ECP Lower Dir district monitoring officer (DMO) for speaking at a public rally in violation of the modified code of conduct. He had already advised the prime minister to cancel his intentions, and now he has called him to appear in person or through counsel before him on March 14 with a written declaration in his defence.
