Islamabad: Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that Pakistan is not a slave of western countries, which will go according to their word. Last week, the embassies of western countries in Pakistan had requested Pakistan to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Imran Khan has since responded to their request in the strongest terms, referring to India. Imran Khan said that when India ended Kashmir's special status in violation of international law, why did no western country break its relationship with India.
The heads of 22 diplomatic missions, including European Union member states based in Pakistan, jointly wrote a letter to Pakistan on March 1. It urged Pakistan to support a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) condemning the Russian attack in Ukraine. The letter was also released publicly, which is not usually done. Imran Khan said during a rally that we are not slaves of western countries. "I ask the EU ambassadors, did you write such a letter to India?"
Referring to Kashmir, Khan further said, "When India broke international law in Kashmir. Going against the rules of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) that ended Kashmir's special status, have any of you broken any ties with India? Did you ban him? So what are we in front of you? We are a slave, we will do what you say?" Imran also referred to Afghanistan during the rally, saying that in Afghanistan, Pakistan supported the Western military alliance NATO, but the NATO countries criticized Pakistan instead of expressing their gratitude to Pakistan. Like Pakistan, countries like India and China also abstained from voting.
