MATHURA : The woman who set herself on fire in front of a police station in Mathura on Saturday, succumbed to her burn injuries on Sunday night. As per reports, the women had tried to self-immolate in protest at police inaction in a molestation case in which she had been the victim. Her molester was allegedly pressuring her to drop a five-year-old complaint she had filed against him. According to the emergency medical officer, the woman had 96 percent burn injuries when she was taken to the district hospital for treatment. She was eventually referred to S.N. Medical College in Agra, where she died while undergoing treatment. The police have filed a FIR under the Indian Penal Code's Sections 306 (suicide attempt) and 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment) against four people, including the village pradhan's father, for allegedly forcing her to drop her complaint against the accused.
