Surat: Six workers of the factory lost their lives and about 22 others were admitted to the hospital after being inhaled by toxic fumes emanating from a chemical-laden tanker parked near a factory in Surat, Gujarat on Thursday. A police officer has informed on Saturday that the police have arrested 4 people under various charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder and illegal disposal of chemical waste.
Let us inform that the fire officer of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has informed that the workers were sleeping in the dyeing factory located in the industrial area at the time of the accident. In fact, in Surat district on January 6, due to toxic fumes from a chemical tanker kept near a factory, six laborers lost their lives and the condition of 22 others worsened, who were admitted to the hospital.
At the same time, this incident took place in Sachin Industrial Area and the workers were sleeping in the dyeing factory located there at the time of the incident. Where a crime branch official said that the 4 people arrested on Friday include 2 transporters, 1 bank employee and 1 garage owner. He said that the Surat crime branch has nabbed the accused with the help of Vadodara and Bharuch police.
