NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is hoping to defeat the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi's largest local body elections, is placing more faith in its physical campaign than its internet one with just around two weeks left to go. Elections for the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will take place on December 4, and the results will be tallied on December 7. All 250 of the AAP's candidates recently participated in a high-level conference to plan the party's strategy against the BJP, which has ruled the MCD for the previous three terms. In order to promote the accomplishments of the AAP government, the gathering considered a decentralised campaign approach with a greater emphasis on grassroots organising. The candidates and AAP cadres have been given specific instructions to engage voters directly through door-to-door canvassing and, most importantly, to hold "Jansamvad Sabhas" at the booth level to discuss the work of the AAP government and its commitment to "liberate the capital city from three garbage mountains plaguing the city" if elected. To ensure that padayatras, door-to-door campaign, and public discussions occur in all of the wards as planned, the party has also appointed observers in each Assembly constituency. The observers will keep tabs on the overall campaign plan and provide their findings to the party's headquarters. "These observers will make sure that padayatras, door-to-door interactions , and open forums takes place in each of the wards. The central observers will keep an eye on the entire campaign and submit their findings to the central office. The fact that office-holders have been awarded tickets obviously demonstrates that the party has given the organisation priority in the MCD elections "Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, said.
