Meg Lanning, Australia-skipper, will not play in Ashes women's cricket series in England.

Meg Lanning, the captain of Australia, has been forced to withdraw from the women's Ashes cricket series in England due to health issues.

In a statement released on Saturday, Cricket Australia stated that Lanning was taken out of the team based on medical advice due to a problem that needs to be handled at home. No other information has been made public.

Shawn Flegler, Australia's head of women's cricket performance, stated, "It's an unfortunate setback for Meg and she's obviously disappointed to have been ruled out of the Ashes."

She will be missed because it's a big series for the squad, but she recognises the importance of prioritising her health. Meg will stay at home and continue to work with the medical team in hopes of getting back to playing as soon as possible.

The 31-year-old Lanning, who was injured in her shoulder and missed the 2017–18 Ashes series, has been instrumental in Australia's dominance of women's international cricket for the past five years.

After taking a four-month hiatus, she returned to cricket in January and guided Australia in its championship defence at the Twenty20 World Cup in March. She also participated in India's first T20 Women's Premier League.

Alyssa Healy, a seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman, will captain the Australian squad during the women's Ashes tour.

On June 22, a test match will kick off the multi-format series in Nottingham. Three T20s and three ODIs will follow.

Meg Lanning is an Australian cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest female cricketers of all time. Lanning made her debut for the Australian women's cricket team in 2010 at the age of 18. Since then, she has been a key player and leader in the team. She has served as the captain of the Australian women's cricket team, leading them to multiple victories and success.

As a right-handed batswoman, Lanning has displayed incredible consistency and power in her batting. She holds several records, including being the fastest player, male or female, to reach 1,000 runs in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket. She achieved this feat in just 22 innings.

Lanning has played a crucial role in Australia's dominance in women's cricket. Under her captaincy, the team has won multiple ICC Women's T20 World Cups and ICC Women's Cricket World Cups. She has been instrumental in shaping the Australian team's success with her leadership skills and exceptional performances.
