Meghalaya deputy CM is confident about NPP win in GHADC polls

Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong is confident about the victory of his party in the upcoming elections to the GHADC. Tysong on Thursday exuded confidence that his party would win the polls, and cross the magic number.

Tynsong told reporters, “If you ask about the prospect of the NPP, I will tell you on April 14 (counting day). But we know what the required number in the Council is, and we are going to cross the magic number,” Allegations of misuse of funds in the GHADC are being hurled at the NPP-led Executive Committee especially by the Meghalaya BJP, which is also part and parcel of the NPP-led MDA government in the state. Earlier, the BJP was also part of the NPP-led Executive Committee in GHADC.

Meghalaya deputy chief minister said that the financial mismanagement in the GHADC has been there in the past terms. He said, “The alleged financial mismanagement in the GHADC was not only during our term (NPP). It has been there, and that’s why an inquiry by the directorate of local accounts has been instituted."He further added, "The inquiry is directly being conducted by the Directorate of Local Accounts because it requires thorough audit and scrutiny of vouchers related to various expenditures. This takes time and they (inquiry team) are still on the job."
