Meghalaya: North Garo Hills police conduct liquor raids, recover IMFL

Meghalaya Excise officials seized  Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 5 lakh in North Garo Hills ahead of New Year. The seizure was made from a truck in the Mendipathar area of North Garo Hills district on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted a raid in the area and seized 13 cartons of IMFL, including a few crates of beer, said an official. A case under relevant sections of the Excise Act has been registered at the Mendipathar police station.

According to the source, These have been duly seized and necessary actions are being taken up against the miscreants, as was reported by police sources. In an official statement, NGH police said, “These preventive actions are being taken to minimise the accidents because of drinking and driving, and committing other crimes under the influence of alcohol during the time of dry days."
