In India, preparations for the release of the potential vaccine prevention of Covid-19 in the market in January are getting faster. While the Indian drug regulator is eyeing the UK drug regulator, the Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by Oxford could be approved next week. The Indian regulator will then decide on the emergency use of vaccines being made by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

The Coronavirus Expert Committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is about to meet when the UK regulator approves the Oxford-made vaccine. At the meeting, there will be an in-depth review of the safety and immunity data obtained from clinical trials abroad and in India, only after that, the emergency use of vaccines will be approved.

According to the information, the process of approving the emergency use of Bharat Biotech's coronavirus vaccine 'Covaxin' may take some time as its Phase III trials are still underway. Pfizer has not yet presented its vaccine. It is also being said that if seen from this perspective, the Oxford vaccine 'Covishield' may be the first vaccine to be approved.
