Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo and former CM Mehbooba Mufti to vacate her government bungalow on or before November 15. The Jammu and Kashmir Estates Department has ordered Mehbooba Mufti to vacate the 'Fairview' bungalow on Gupkar Road. The government order states that the Mufti is staying in this bungalow 'unauthorisedly'. The order clarified that the bungalow allotted to Mehbooba Mufti was given to her on 27 April 2017 under the then CM of the state for only six months and it was later extended till 31 October 2018 and no extension thereafter. After that Mehbooba Mufti was no longer entitled to the government bungalow, as the legal provision under which the former CM was entitled to various facilities was rescinded by the Government of India in 2020, the order said. The government said the reply of the Mufti to the eviction notice in the past was received on October 22. He further said, "The facts which you (Mufti) have put forth do not entitle you from anywhere to retain the government accommodation. In particular, when the Government has communicated in writing its willingness to provide you with alternative accommodation on security or any other grounds. Now, therefore, in the exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of section 5 of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1988, it is ordered that Mehbooba Mufti, former CM and all persons who are occupying the scheduled premises or any part thereof, they may vacate the scheduled premises on or before 15.11.2022.''
