Holy grail of high-pressure physics- 'metallic Hydrogen', disappears

An artificially created metallic sample of Hydrogen disappeared from the lab. The material was named as 'holy grail of high-pressure physics'. This material was kept in the  Harvard University in the US.

The news about the disappearance of the material was broken by the scientists of the Harvard University. Harvard scientists say that it took 80 years of strive to create this material, which is no more now.

Research team leader Isaac F Silvera said, "Basically, it’s disappeared. It’s either someplace at room pressure, very small, or it just turned back into a gas. We don’t know."

Silvera further added, "We’re preparing a new experiment to see if we can reproduce the pressures we achieved the first time, and reproduce our metallic hydrogen."
