Rohtas: A strange theft incident has come to light at Amiyawar under the Nasriganj police station area of Rohtas Bihar district of Bihar. Here an iron bridge was built on the Ara Canal Canal around the year 1972. The 60-foot-long bridge was broken. The thieves openly stole this bridge. The thieves, posing as departmental officers, had arrived with bulldozers, gas cutters and vehicles. The bridge was cut off in three days and filled in vehicles and fled. Shockingly, the thieves pretended to be officers of the irrigation department and also took the help of local departmental personnel. The entire bridge was stolen in their presence. Villager Mantu Singh, Mahesh Chaudhary said that the thieves had come with full preparation as irrigation department officials. People were not using this iron bridge which had been lying dilapidated for several decades. In such a situation, people had also applied for the removal of this bridge. The department had built a parallel bridge of concrete near the bridge itself. The iron of the bridge was also being stolen, but for the last 3 days, the entire bridge was stolen by cutting it. When the iron bridge, about 60 feet long and 12 feet high, was stolen, the villagers and the department realised that they had been duped. Subsequently, the departmental officers lodged a case at the police station. Questions are being raised on the manner in which the thieves have openly stolen the entire iron bridge built on the canal. Arshad Kamal Shamsi, the junior engineer of the irrigation department, said that a complaint has been lodged about the incident. The thieves had tricked people into cutting the bridge on a departmental order.
