Mizoram is set to get the first motorsports track in northeast India

The first motorsports racing circuit in eastern and northeastern India is slated to be developed in Mizoram, according to state Sports and Youth Services Minister Robert Romawia Royte. A deal was signed on Thursday between the Centre-owned Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and the Mizoram State Sports Council to create the Rs 10 crore racing track, according to the minister.

The State Sports Council, according to Royte, who also holds the Tourism, Industries, and Commerce Departments, would make significant efforts to guarantee that the track's construction is finished on schedule. Officials from the REC also stated that the track would hold international events in the future.

It would be built in Lengpui, some 31 kilometres north of Aizawl, where the state's lone airport is located. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) financing, the REC, a Navratna Enterprise under the Union Power Ministry, would construct the motorsports racing track.

The project involves the construction of a 2 kilometre long and 6 metre wide racing track, two-story buildings for sports complex facilities such as administrative and dressing rooms, conference hall, medical room, canteen, VIP room and equipment room, and spectator galleries, according to REC officials.
