Breaking: Moderate 4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Andaman Islands

Early Wednesday morning, the Andaman Islands shooka 4.1 magnitude earthquake, as per the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremor occurred at 7:53 AM (Indian Standard Time – IST), with its epicenter located at a depth of 10 kilometers.

NCS, on their social media platform X (previously known as Twitter), confirmed the quake's details, stating its mild intensity and pinpointing its location at latitude 12.66 and longitude 93.02. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties or damages to property as a result of this earthquake. Additionally, authorities did not issue a tsunami alert in response to the seismic activity.

Background on Earthquakes in Andaman and Nicobar Islands:

Last August, a 4.3 magnitude quake shook the Andaman Islands at 4:17 AM (IST) with an epicenter 61 kilometers deep, located at latitude 10.69 and longitude 92.05. Moreover, on August 2 of the same year, two earthquakes rattled the Nicobar Islands, the first hitting at 5:40 AM and the second at 6:37 AM.
