More than thousand people cheated in name of cashback, police arrested 5 frauds

New Delhi: The Central District Police has busted a cyber-cheating racket in the name of cashback on the insurance policy and other profits in credit cards. Police claim that the gang criminals have cheated more than 1,000 people in the entire country in the last two years by open a fake call centre in Uttam Nagar.

In the case, five people, including the young woman, have been taken into custody Wednesday night. They have been identified as Pawan Singh, Mohammad Zahid, Kamal Goyal, Banti Kumar and Radha. SUVs, 10 mobiles, data of thousands of people and other documents have been recovered from the hooligans. Research is continuing for other gang criminals. Police have so far received 15 complaints against gangs from across the country. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District, Sanjay Bhatia said that the culprits were called by the Darganj resident Vipin Bhatnagar. The miscreants described themselves as representatives of the bank and described some details of their credit card. Vipin was lured to a cashback of Rs 5000 and gave information about the OTP and bank balance. Vipin promptly switched off the credit card. Later, on August 18, the case was filed in the Darganj police station. The investigation is going on in this case.
