Parents of children are not in favor of opening school right now due to corona infection. More than two lakh parents across the country have signed a petition sent to the central government and said that schools should not be opened till the situation of Covid-19 improves or its vaccine is ready. The application, signed by around 2.13 lakh parents, has been sent at a time when the central government has announced that schools, colleges, coaching centers and other educational institutions will be open later, with states and union territories should meet in July to discuss the condition of coronavirus.

Last Saturday, the Union Home Ministry released the 'Unlock 1' guideline instead of lockdown. There were nationwide concessions after Lockdown 4 ending on 31 May. In this, all the sectors are being opened one by one after the countrywide lockdown from 25 March.

It is important to note that several states of North-East including Maharashtra, Kerala have indicated to start school activities from June itself. The HRD Ministry is also preparing to release the safety guidelines for school-colleges soon. The decision to open schools, colleges, educational institutions, coaching institutes etc. will be taken after consultation with the state governments. Now state governments will be more responsible.
