Mumbai: Lok Sabha MP from Maharashtra Navneet Rana, who is facing charges of producing caste certificates using fake documents, has not got relief from the court. The Bombay High Court has rejected Rana's caste certificate. Not only that, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on him. Rana is an independent MP from Amravati. Her husband Ravi Rana Badnera is MLA from the assembly. Earlier in 2014 also, the court had rejected his caste certificate. Rana, who was elected as the first MP from Amravati, is now in danger of losing his seat. In fact, the Amravati Lok Sabha seat was reserved for the Scheduled Castes. However, the court is yet to comment in this regard. Amravati is the second largest city in vidarbha region. According to media reports, Rana, who has entered politics by acting, knows seven languages. He had defeated former MP and Shiv Sena leader Anandrao Adsul in the election. Rana had accused Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant last March. He had said that Sawant had threatened to send him to jail for speaking against the Maharashtra government in the Lok Sabha lobby. Rana is one of the eight women MPs of Maharashtra. He had also complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla about receiving acid attack threats over phone calls.
