In ancient days, when the children had a cold, the grandmother used to give them a small piece of liquorice with honey on top of it. It is to cure a cold and cough. Scientists have now done the research and trying to use it as cure of coronavirus. Scientists at the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) have found that the Ayurvedic medicine of the root of liquorice can prove extremely effective in the war against the coronavirus. Dr Madhavi Joshi, Joint Director of Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) shared the results of the research. In a presentation titled 'Reposing and Validation of Phytochemicals and Ayurvedic Formulations' for the treatment of coronavirus, she said that alcoholic acid present in liquorice can be effective in fighting the coronavirus. The results of the research were discussed in a webinar recently organized by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM). Regular consumption of liquorice increases the immunity of our body. This is because the enzymes present in liquorice help to produce lymphocytes and macrophages in the body. Linfosaits and macrophages inhibit the ill-growing microbes, Pollutant, allergy and body to the harmful cells, which can give us diseases associated with the immune system.
