Mumbai Police takes away all anti-Emmanuel Macron posters

Even after PM Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with France after series of ‘terror’ incidents rocking the European country in the last few days, protests against Emmanuel Macron were held in Mumbai and Bhopal.  Mumbai Police on Friday removed all anti-French President Macron posters that were pasted on the Mohammed Ali Road under JJ flyover on Thursday evening. The protestors pasted Macron's photos on roads and walked on them to protest against the French president terming the Nice knife attack incident as 'Islamic terrorist attack'. Macron is facing criticism from Muslim countries over a cartoon row in France.

Commenting on the protests against Macron, Maulana Abbas Rizvi of Raza Academy said, “Muslims in Mumbai pasted Macron’s photographs on roads. People, cars, dogs, cats are walking over the posters. Macron had the courage to under his government. He must be punished like this only. I congratulate Mumbai for punishing this wrongdoer like this.”

In the meantime, in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, people from the Muslim community also protested at Iqbal Maidan against Macron over the disagreement about the depiction of Prophet Muhammad in cartoons published by the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

Notably, Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Arif Masood and some clerics are among 2,000 people who have been booked after a protest against French President Emmanuel Macron over a cartoon row in the European country, police said on Friday.
