Mumbai-Howrah Mail Derailment in Jharkhand: Two Dead, 20 Injured

JHARKHAND: In a tragic incident early Tuesday morning, 18 coaches of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail derailed near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand, leading to the deaths of two people and injuries to 20 others. The derailment occurred between Rajkharswan West Outer and Barabamboo.

West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner, Kuldeep Chaudhary, confirmed the fatalities and injuries, stating that rescue operations are actively underway. "An NDRF team is rushing to the site to assist in the rescue efforts," Chaudhary reported from the accident scene.

The derailment took place at 3:45 AM near Badabamboo, approximately 80 km from Jamshedpur, within the Chakradharpur Division of South East Railway. Officials said

The accident site is located in Potobeda, Kharsawan block of Seraikela-Kharsawan district. A local administration official noted that the incident involved both the Mumbai-Howrah Mail and a freight train. The process of assessing the injured is currently ongoing.

Following the derailment, several trains have been disrupted. The South Eastern Railway has confirmed that multiple trains' schedules and operations have been affected as authorities work to manage the situation and restore normal services.
