Murmu emphasizes education for tribal and backward-class development

Gadchiroli: President Droupadi Murmu of India highlighted the significant role of education in societal development, particularly in improving the conditions of tribal communities and backward classes. She delivered this message during the 10th convocation of Gondwana University in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. President Murmu expressed her joy at addressing the youth during her visit to Maharashtra after assuming the presidency in July of the previous year.

She congratulated all the graduates and specifically commended the female students, who constituted 45% of the degree holders at Gondwana University. Murmu praised the achievements of the female students, considering their success as an important example for other girls. Emphasizing the transformative power of education, the President recognized Gondwana University for providing education to the tribal population in the district and initiating various skill-based courses.

President Murmu shared that she frequently interacts with tribal communities and has come to understand their desire for quality education for their children. She encouraged the people of Gadchiroli to strive for progress, urging them not to rely solely on the government but to also possess the drive to succeed in life. She acknowledged the admirable lifestyle of the tribal community, their harmony with the environment, and emphasized the need for their holistic development.

The President also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in the development of aspirational districts, including those with a significant tribal population. The aspirational district's program, launched by the Prime Minister in January 2018, aims to facilitate rapid and effective transformation in the most underdeveloped districts across India.
