The Mysore Race Club is all set to start online betting for horse racing as the coronavirus restrictions affects the horse racing industry. The club is to scrap the manual betting system. The state government granted permission to the club management to organise online betting. Mysore Race Club (MRC) chairman N Nithyananda Rao said the winter race season will start from November 11. "The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has badly affected the horse racing business in the country. The sport was suspended for the last eight months due to the virus outbreak. The racing community was deeply disappointed over the development and that's the reason we took permission for online betting for the horse race," said MRC chairman to a news channel. www.betmysore.com and www.turfwinners.com websites can be used for the enthusiasts to place the bets online for winter race sports resuming on November 11 and to be held for six days. The horse races are scheduled on November 11, 18 and 25 and December 2, 9 and 16. The MRC chaieman said the club has suffered losses of around Rs 3.5 cr due to the lockdown. Last financial year, the club has paid Rs 52 lakh as taxes.
