N Rangasamy to take oath as Chief Minister of Union Territory of Puducherry at a ceremony today i.e. May 7. Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan would induct Rangasamy as Chief Minister at a brief swearing-in ceremony on the precincts of Rajnivas. The sources confirm that AINRC Chief Rangasamy will only be introduced to state as Chief Minister tomorrow. Later, he would be heading an NDA dispensation which has the BJP as the other constituent. As per information received from party sources, the oath-taking of other ministers, including those from BJP will take place in the next few days. Looking at earlier pattern, the count of a ministry in Puducherry would be six including Chief Minister. A Namassivayam who lately joined the BJP party in January after quitting the Congress can be the power owner of Deputy Chief Minister post. The AINRC bagged 10 seats out of the 16 it contested in the April 6 polls while the BJP garnered six out of the nine seats it contested. With this both the parties, AINRC and BJP now have combined strength of 16 out of 30 seats. There are six independents elected to the House and they are by and large supporters of Rangasamy. The DMK has emerged six while Congress fared poorly by only two out of the 14 seats it contested.
