Nadda on 2-day visit Kerala, know what his special plans

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: J.P. Nadda, the national president of the BJP, will begin a two-day visit to Kerala on Sunday during which he is expected to strengthen the state party unit. Nadda's visit comes amid concerns that the BJP's Kerala chapter is operating ineffectively.

When speaking with the state party leadership during their recent visit to the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah brought up the issues.

In any case, the senior leadership in this state has been rebuked by both Modi and Shah for failing to acknowledge that nothing has changed and the state BJP unit is failing to make progress despite assurances from the state leadership that things will change.  The widespread and entrenched factionalism that plagues the state unit of the BJP is one factor that is well known to all BJP members nationwide.

In Kerala, the BJP was unable to hold onto its lone seat, which it had gained in the 2016 Assembly elections for the first time ever. In comparison to the 2016 elections, the BJP's vote share decreased by 2.60 percent to reach 12.36 percent when the ballots were counted in the 2021 Assembly elections.

The first action taken by the national leadership was the recent appointment of former Union Minister Prakash Javedkhar as the in-charge for Kerala, and now Nadda will be in town.

Nadda will be seeing the state leaders for two days and will be pleading with them to get their acts together because time is running out.

Despite being younger than his predecessors, who were elderly and seasoned veterans, the current state president is 52-year-old K. Surendran. This change did not appear to have improved the party's fortunes in this area, so the national leadership is actively looking to strengthen the party, and Nadda seems to have a difficult task ahead of him.
