BHOPAL: On October 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Mahakaleshwar temple's freshly built corridor in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Monday.

The chief minister remarked while reviewing the project while in Ujjain: "The ambitious Ujjain Mahakal Corridor project's first phase is almost finished. On October 11, Prime Minister Modi will visit to Ujjain to dedicate the facility and offer prayers at the shrine." The Ujjain Mahakal Corridor project has been divided into two phases, and by August 2023, the temple complex will have grown from 2.82 hectares to 20.23 hectares, approximately eight times its current size.

The first phase of construction will result in a 900-meter corridor lined with several installations, a theme park, a heritage mall, and E-transport facilities, among other things.

The government intends to convert Maharajwada School Bhavan into a heritage Dharamshala in the second phase. Other projects include connecting Rudra Sagar and the Shipra River, beautifying the area around the front lake, building a multi-level parking garage with room for 350 cars, building a railroad underpass, and building a 210-meter suspension bridge over Rudra Sagar.

Moreover, a location close to the well-known Ram Ghat will host a dynamic light display. According to the state administration, the project will be finished in 2028. Notably, the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government authorised an initial grant of Rs 500 crore for the development of the corridor earlier in January of this year.

The Ujjain Mahakal Temple Corridor will reportedly become India's most technologically advanced holy site as a result of the government's plans to enlarge it. The massive undertaking is being created as part of the MP government's overarching strategy to make Ujjain a "Smart City."

On December 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi, his home constituency. The Prime Minister himself conceptuconceptualizedridor, which is situated close to the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat. Its goal was to open a passage to the old temple by demolishing structures that were blocking it without resorting to litigation while maintaining the area's historic landmarks.
