Narendra Modi Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ahead of Swearing-In Ceremony

New Delhi: Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi initiated the day of his impending swearing-in ceremony with a poignant visit to Rajghat, the revered memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, on Sunday. The symbolic gesture underscored Modi's reverence for the Father of the Nation as he prepared to embark on his third consecutive term as India's Prime Minister.

Following his solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Modi proceeded to pay his respects at the memorial of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an eminent leader and the first BJP prime minister. Vajpayee's leadership played a pivotal role in shaping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a cornerstone of national politics, alongside stalwarts like Lal Krishna Advani. The presence of supporters in substantial numbers during Modi's visit to these monuments reflected the deep-seated admiration and reverence for these iconic figures among the populace.

In addition to his homage at Rajghat and 'Sadaiv Atal', Modi made a poignant stop at the National War Memorial, a poignant tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. His solemn acknowledgment of their sacrifices further emphasized the significance of national unity and the commitment to honoring the country's defenders.

As the day progresses, President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to Prime Minister Modi and his Council of Ministers in a ceremonial event at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Notably, the coalition government is poised to include representation from various political allies, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], and Shiv Sena, underscoring the collaborative spirit and diversity of India's democratic governance.
