Mumbai: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be part of the Navy Day celebrations at Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, where the Indian Navy will showcase its operational prowess.

The Indian Navy officials announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will observe the Indian Navy's operational demonstration on Navy Day at Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. The event will feature an impressive lineup, including warships, submarines, aerial assets, Maritime surveillance planes, as well as fighter and trainer aircraft.

Among the array of displays, the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier, warships like INS Kolkata, Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Chennai, Brahmaputra, Beas, Betwa, Tabar, and Subhadra will participate. Additionally, the submarine INS Khanderi of the Kalvari class and helicopters such as Chetak, ALH Dhruv, MH60 Romeo, Kamov 31, and Seaking 42B will be in action. The Maritime surveillance planes will include the Dornier and P-8I, while the fighter and trainer aircraft section will comprise Hawks, LCA-Navy, and MiG-29K jets.

Indian Navy officials emphasized the theme of the demonstration, 'Jalamev Yasya, Balamev Tasya' (The one who controls the sea is all-powerful).

The operational demonstration, taking place at the iconic Sindhudurg Fort along India's western seaboard, will exhibit the Indian Navy's capabilities across various naval operations by ships and aircraft.

Admiral R. Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, will host the event, which will be witnessed from Tarkarli beach by senior Centre and State government officials, military dignitaries, and the local populace. The objective is to honor India's maritime history and highlight colonial practices.

Dating back to 1660, the Sindhudurg Fort, constructed by the Maratha Ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, stands as a testament to India's maritime legacy and fulfills the Navy's requirement for conducting operational demonstrations with its frontline assets.

Navy Day, observed on December 4, commemorates "Operation Trident," the audacious attack by the Navy on Karachi harbour during the 1971 War, a significant event in Indian naval history.
