Mumbai: The protest has intensified after the announcement of Padma Shri to Bollywood singer Adnan Sami. After the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Congress, now the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders have also started making rhetoric about the issue. Maharashtra's Minority Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik has given a controversial statement regarding the Padma Shri award. Nawab Malik has said in Mumbai that those who shout for Modi are honoured with citizenship and Padma Shri. At the same time, those who challenge the BJP are beaten. Those opposing the BJP will be asked to prove their citizenship. He said that giving the Padma Shri to Adnan Sami is only a show for the BJP. Demonstrations against the citizenship law across the country and the damage done to the party by it are being replenished. He said that this is an insult to the people of India. He said that Indian Muslims do not deserve Padma awards? Earlier, Congress spokesperson Jayveer Shergill also attacked the BJP government for awarding Padma Shri to Adnan Sami. He has said how Padmashri can be given to Adnan Sami, whose father was in the Pakistani Air Force and he opened fire against India.
