Kolkata: Protests continue in many areas of the country regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In the midst of all this, on the lines of Rajasthan and Punjab, Mamata Banerjee will present a proposal against the citizenship law in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly today. State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee has said that the proposal will be presented in the special session of the assembly at 2 pm on January 27. It is being told that this resolution will also be passed due to the large number of Trinamool MLAs.

Apart from the Left parties, Congress also has the support of this proposal of Mamata Banerjee. Apart from this, the Government of West Bengal is also preparing to file an appeal against this law in the apex court. Earlier, the proposal has been passed in Kerala and Congress-led Punjab and Rajasthan Legislatures. Apart from this, in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, which are under the Congress government, this step is also expected to be taken soon.
