Never praised Pakistan govt: Sharad Pawar issues clarification after social media backlash

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar has been severely criticized in the political corridors for praising Pakistan. Actually, Pawar had expressed his love for Pakistan in a statement on Sunday, which is now being targeted for him. But while talking to the media, Sharad Pawar clarified that his statement was taken incorrectly and he said that I never praised the Pakistani government.

In fact, while addressing the party workers at NCP Bhavan in Mumbai, the NCP chief said that he has found a lot of love in Pakistan too and Muslims are very happy there. Attacking the Modi government, Sharad Pawar said that false propaganda is being spread for political gains that Muslims in Pakistan are not safe and happy which is totally wrong.

The media sought feedback from Pawar in this statement and wanted to know what was the motive behind his statement. To this, Sharad Pawar said," On Sunday, I was speaking to my party people at NCP Bhavan in Mumbai, I never praised Pakistan government and there was no chance of criticising BJP Govt for spreading lies about Muslims in Pakistan.  He further said, "Many times when I visited Pakistan with the Indian cricket team, the locals over there use to come out praising the Indian cricket players who performed very well in the cricket matches."
