NDA Unanimously Appoints Narendra Modi as PM for Third Term, President Murmu Confirms

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for a third term, following unanimous support from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). On Friday, a delegation of NDA leaders submitted letters of support to the President, solidifying Modi's position.

Earlier, the NDA had unanimously chosen Modi for the roles of Prime Minister, head of the NDA, and leader of the house in the Lok Sabha through a resolution passed at their parliamentary party meeting.

In an official statement, Rashtrapati Bhavan said, "The President, having satisfied herself on the basis of various letters of support received, that the BJP-led NDA, which is also the largest pre-election alliance, is in a position to command majority support of the newly constituted 18th Lok Sabha and to form a stable government, appointed Shri Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India, exercising powers vested in her under Article 75(1) of the Constitution."

President Murmu also requested Modi's suggestion for a suitable date for the swearing-in ceremony, which is now scheduled for 7:15 pm on June 9. The new government is expected to convene a Parliament session within two weeks of the ceremony.
