Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's alleged fake degree case has come up with a new twist. The magistrate hearing the case has written a letter to the district judge saying that she is not able to hear the case. The letter says that Keshav Prasad Maurya is an assembly member due to which it is beyond his purview to hear the case. The woman magistrate has said in the letter that such cases should be heard in the special court. The date of hearing in the case has been fixed as of July 30. Keshav Prasad Maurya has been accused of contesting elections using fake degrees and also acquiring petrol pumps. The RTI activist had filed a petition in the court against Keshav Prasad Maurya seeking registration of FIR. The local magistrate has now refused to hear the case. RTI activist Diwakar Nath Tripathi had submitted a petition in the court to pass an order to file an FIR against Keshav Prasad Maurya. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Namrata Singh, who is hearing the case, has written a letter to the district judge requesting him to withdraw from the case. She said Keshav Prasad Maurya is an assembly member. Therefore, this court does not have the jurisdiction to hear this application, the case should be transferred to the Special Court.
