Wellington: New Zealand border registered nineteen fresh corona cases in the last three days. These cases registered as the country announcing tightened border restrictions on Sunday. In a statement, the Health Ministry said, The new cases were all detected in managed isolation while no new case was found in the community. The total number of active cases in New Zealand was currently 72, and the total number of confirmed cases reached 1,825, said the ministry. It has been also confirmed that the six positive cases of COVID-19 have been found to match the new COVID-19 variant that was discovered in Britain. The Minister for COVID-19 Response, Chris Hipkins has also announced that travellers from the United States and Britain will be required to get a negative test result for COVID-19 before departing for New Zealand from January 15. Meanwhile, the overall number of global coronavirus cases has topped 84.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.83 million, according to Johns Hopkins University.In its latest update on Sunday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 84,517,989 and 1,834,963, respectively.
