Daman: Night curfew has been issued as a precautionary measure in the Union Territories of Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. The move comes in the wake of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus. As per the information received, step has been taken to prevent the spread of this variant here. An official said last Thursday that an order issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Union Territory Administration said that curfew will be imposed from Thursday from 11 pm to 6 am till December 31.
It is also being said that the previous guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by the Central and Union Territory Administrations to check the spread of coronavirus will remain in force till December 31 or further orders. Let us also tell all of you that earlier, night curfew was imposed in the Union Territory in April following a sudden increase in cases of coronavirus infection. After that, the restrictions on movement were gradually lifted after the situation came under control a few months ago.
The order issued at present cited the recent consultation suo-faction of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This is the same consultation in which all states and Union Territories were asked to "examine all international travellers" in view of the b.1.1529 nature of Covid-19 in some African countries.
