The director-general of police (DGP), VS Yadav on Wednesday said that the Militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) has become active again and it is trying to revive its strength in Tripura. During a book release function at the state police headquarters, Yadav said “Three NLFT members were arrested on Tuesday. Extortion notes and mobiles have been confiscated from them. The mobiles are being checked.” He said the purpose was to collect money from the companies involved in the construction of fences in the border areas. VS Yadav said police have arrested several overground members of the NLFT in the last few days on the basis of inputs from various sources. He further said, National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) is now “quite weak”. Yadav further said that NLFT's financial situation is not good therefore the group is trying to increase its strength by extorting money. Apart from NLFT, there are several other militant groups camping in Bangladesh. They can build an understanding among themselves. Yadav warned that who are backing the NLFT or maintaining relationships with them, “will not be spared”. Police will take strict action against the sympathisers. In the event, The DGP released a book written by a retired police officer, Parag Baran Roy.
