Nora Fatehi's dance show was canceled by the Bangladesh government to save dollars

Nora Fatehi is one of the most loved actresses in bollywood.  The actress is famous for her energetic dancing skills.  The actress was recently featured in World cup anthem.  She was all set to perform in Dhaka soon. But her performance was ‘disallowed’ by the Bangladesh government.

According to some reports, Bangladesh has recently adopted austerity measures and the cancellation of Nora's performance is part of that effort to ‘save dollars’ The actress was scheduled to participate in the Women Entrepreneur Awards ceremony. The Ministry of Culture has given this decision following the application of Israt Jahan Maria on behalf of Women Leadership Corporation, the organizer of the event.

She was not allowed to participate in another event last month due to the same issue. In the notification of the Ministry of Culture, it is said that in view of the global situation, regarding the Bangladesh Bank's memorandum to maintain the foreign currency reserves in the country, permission cannot be given to the Nora Fatehi to participate in the award at the Bangabandhu International Convention Hall on November 18.

The ministry referred to the central bank’s restrictions on dollar payments amid dwindling foreign exchange reserves in the country. The country's forex reserves have slipped to $36.33 billion as of October 12 from $46.13 billion a year earlier. As per the reports, the current reserves are only enough to cover roughly four months of imports and the administration is disallowing many activities that involve payment in foreign currency. Nora's performance fell in that category.
