North Karnataka to be separate State: CM Bommai

New Delhi: According to Karnataka state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday, the state government has no plans to suggest creating a separate state for North Karnataka.

"North Karnataka as a distinct state is not being considered or proposed at the government level," Bommai said.

In response to the minister Umesh Katti's remarks on the issue of a separate state for North Karnataka, Bommai said, "Umesh Katti had already discussed it in his speeches. He has  been saying it for a long time. He should respond to this inquiry personally."

According to the information, Katti has occasionally called for the separation of the state and spoken out in favour of the creation of a separate state. He had stated, "We need a separate state, and that is our aim. Bangalore has become a central location for solely the people of South Karnataka, while the ones in North Karnataka are suffering becasue of it.

During his address to the media reportersat Karnataka Bhavan in the national capital, Bommai assured to have an investigation of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) road's subpar construction conducted before Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the state's capital cities of Bengaluru and Mysore.
