NorthEast, Assam marched ahead in 8-yrs of BJP rule under PM Modi: Amit Shah

GUWAHATI  Home Minister Amit Shah ON Saturday asserted that Assam and the Northeastern region marched ahead in the path of peace and development during the past 8 years of BJP rule under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Congress merely provided this area with conflict with the rest of India. Assam and the entire northeast began to travel on the path of peace and development after the BJP took office at the centre of government in 2014 "Shah made this statement in Guwahati during the opening of the new, six-story state headquarters for the Assam BJP.

The Union Home Minister added that since India's independence, Congress-led governments have encouraged violence and instability in northeast India. Only until Prime Minister Narendra Modi took various initiatives to elevate this region could it join the mainstream of growth.

In the previous eight years, "almost 9,000 militants laid down their arms, bringing peace to Assam and the northeast," he said.

Shah also asserted that the Center had raised the budget allocation for NE state infrastructure development.

Earlier, J.P. Nadda and Amit Shah inaugurated the Assam BJP's new headquarters in Guwahati. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a former prime minister, was honoured with a six-story structure.

Nadda and Shah virtually lay the foundation stone for the 102 BJP regional offices in Assam as well as the nine district party offices. He said, the BJP offices exhibit the passion, dedication, and emotion of all party members.

Assam BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other party officials were also present.
