New Delhi: In order to promote 'Make in India' in the defense sector, Modi Government 2.0 has given approval to purchase indigenous defense equipment worth Rs 3,300 crore. The Defense Procurement Council (DAC), headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved it. The meeting of this council was held on Monday. According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Defense, three projects being developed, designed and designed at the indigenous level by Indian industries have been approved.

The three projects that have been approved by the government include 2 anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) of the third generation and auxiliary power units (APUs) for T-72 and T-90 tanks. The third generation anti-tank guided missile will provide the Army with capabilities such as 'stain and forget' and 'top attack' during armed combat. The APU will include a number of upgrades such as fire control system and night fighting capabilities.

The Defense Ministry has said in its statement that, "Both the projects will proceed under the Make-2 category and these will promote indigenous R&D in the private sector". Let us tell you that India has to import defense equipment worth thousands of crores of rupees, which are very expensive. Therefore, the government is trying to promote the manufacturing of important military equipment at the indigenous level.
