The Early Bird Benefit Scheme of the government of Maharashtra for select electric vehicle buyers has been extended up to 31st March 2022. The scheme has earlier expired on 31st December 2021. Under the scheme, only 2 models - Tata Nexon EV and Tigor EV are showing benefits in the 4-wheeler segment. Under this scheme of the Government of Maharashtra, a discount of Rs.1 lakh is being given on the purchase of these two electric cars. As a result, the total exemption under the EV policy has reached Rs 2.5 lakh. 2.5 lakh discount: Under the Maharashtra EV Policy, the basic incentive of Rs 5,000 is being provided for kWh against the battery capacity of the vehicle on the purchase of electric vehicles. Which is given a maximum of Rs. 1.50 lakhs. Further, under the policy, EV buyers are getting the benefit of the Early Bird Benefit Scheme on purchase of vehicle before 31st December 2021, which has now been extended up to 31st March 2022. This means buyers of qualifying variants of Nexon EV get a discount of Rs 2.5 lakh (Rs 1.5 lakh as subsidy and Rs 1 lakh for early bird incentive). This has led to a sharp fall in the value of the vehicle. Also, all variants of Tigor EV are getting subsidies and are now being sold with additional early-bird benefits.
