Odisha: 25.5 lakh children to get Covid vaccines from January 3

BHUBANESWAR: Officials in Odisha announced on Monday that vaccination for Covid-19 will begin on January 3, 2022, for about 25.53 lakh children aged 15 to 18.

According to the Prime Minister's announcement, vaccination programmes for 15-18-year-olds, precaution doses for healthcare and frontline workers, and over 60-year-olds with comorbidities or other health issues will begin in the state next month, according to Bijay Panigrahi, director of health and family welfare.

"In Odisha, there are approximately 25.53 lakh Covid-19 vaccination recipients between the ages of 15 and 18. Their immunisation will begin on January 3rd "he stated. In addition, he said, over 7 lakh healthcare and frontline workers in the state will receive a precautionary dosage of Covid vaccination.

The state of Odisha has a population of 52.37 lakh people over the age of 60, of whom those with comorbidities such as high blood pressure, kidney disease, and other health problems can acquire the vaccines after contacting their doctors, according to the director.

Beginning January 10, healthcare professionals, frontline workers, and senior individuals with comorbidities will be vaccinated.  Vaccination campaigns are currently conducted at 2,600 locations across Odisha. To expedite the immunisation process, eight mobile teams were deployed in each block.
