Bhubaneswar: An investigation has been started into the tragic train accident in Odisha. A preliminary investigation by the railways has revealed that the interlocking system of the tracks was deliberately tampered with. It is being told in the investigation that evidence of this has also been found. Let me tell you that, after the accident, most of the discussion is going on on this interlocking system. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had also expressed the possibility of a glitch in the same system based on a preliminary investigation. According to the report, CRB Railway has also informed the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) about this worst accident. On the accident, the railways has expressed apprehension that whatever happened was due to a change in the point. The PMO has been told that the Railways feels that all this was done deliberately or by someone who knew everything about the point. According to a report, railway officials said on Monday (June 5) that their initial investigation has found clear evidence of tampering with the electronic interlocking system. The railway official said that more revelations in this regard will be made in the CBI investigation. The CBI will investigate who is behind this accident, who carried out the accident, or what caused the accident? More than 280 people have lost their lives and more than 1000 people have been injured in this painful accident. Now the government is working day and night to find out who is responsible for the death of so many people. PM Narendra Modi has also said that strict action will be taken against the culprits. A railway official on Sunday reiterated Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's observation that the interlocking system is a very safe mode of signalling. This is called 'fail safe', which means that even if the system fails, all signals will turn red, bringing all trains to a halt. Railways say that unless someone deliberately tampers with this interlocking system, it is not possible to replace the line earmarked for the main line with the loop line. The official has recommended that the accident should be investigated from this angle. The interlocking system that the Indian Railways is using has 4 certifications and is considered 100 per cent safe. Suvendu Adhikari demands CBI probe Bengal BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari has demanded a CBI inquiry into the accident. Reacting to Mamata Banerjee's statement that a CBI probe is not going to yield any result, Suvendu said, "When the incident has happened in another state, why is CM Mamata Banerjee afraid of a CBI inquiry into the incident? Is there a conspiracy of Trinamool Congress (TMC) behind this? He also recalled the 2010 Dnyaneshwari train tragedy in Bengal in which 150 people lost their lives. Its CBI investigation had revealed that the Maoists had opened the fishplates of the tracks, due to which the train derailed and the accident took place."
