Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has busted an inter-state gang involved in printing and distributing fake currency notes. Officials said the police Wednesday arrested seven persons of the gang and seized fake Indian currency notes worth around Rs 7 crore from their possession. He said that based on the confidential complaint, Unit-11 of the Mumbai Crime Branch intercepted a car at Dahisar check post on Tuesday evening. After the arrest, the culprits were produced before a local court from where they were remanded in police custody till January 31. The officer said that the police nabbed four persons sitting in the car and interrogated them. During the search of the car, the Crime Branch officials found a bag containing 250 bundles of fake notes (of Rs 2,000) worth around Rs 5 crore. According to the officer, during the interrogation of the four persons in the car, the police came to know about three more of their friends. Subsequently, the police raided a hotel in Andheri (West) and arrested the three. The officer said that 100 more bundles of fake notes (of 2,000) were found from them, which are worth Rs 2 crore. Apart from the fake notes, police have seized a laptop, seven mobile phones, genuine notes of Rs 28,170 and several other items from the possession of the criminals.
