Mumbai: In an incident reported from Qureshi Nagar Slum in Kurla East, one person has died and another injured after a heap of garbage fell on their house. 48-year-old Abdul Rashid Qureshi died after the roof of his house collapsed on him. A 65-year-old woman was also buried under the heap of garbage. Qureshi was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. A mobile phone snatcher chased down by a woman in auto-rickshaw, arrested According to the report, the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has blamed the slum dwellers themselves for the accident. The BMC officials said slum residents dumped their garbage and scrap material on the hill which fell down on their houses. Officials argue that it's tough to remove illegally dumped garbage from the hill citing heavy congestion in the area. Officials say it's difficult to operate vehicles due to congested lanes. A youth faked his own kidnapping to get Rs 1 lakh from father Earlier, In September 2017 also, two people were killed in East Delhi after a part of the Ghazipur landfill site collapsed sweeping several people into a canal. The landfill site was supposed to closed 15 years ago. the victims were identified as 30-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man. Five other people were rescued when locals dived into the fast-flowing canal.
