One lakh 80 thousand rupees disappeared from woman's bank account after downloading SBI YONO app

Kolkata: A woman who bought a mobile phone from Flipkart has become a victim of online bank account fraud. On receiving the bad mobile, she returned the mobile and logged on to the SBI Yono app to check the bank balance, after which her mobile number was hacked and Rs. 1.80 lakh was blown away from the bank account. A case has been registered in the cyber crime department of Chandannagar Commissionerate. This is from Hooghly District of West Bengal.

Kanchan Jaiswal, a resident of Chaapdani in Bhadraeshwar police station area of Hooghly, said she had bought a mobile phone from Flipkart for Rs 15,000 while shopping online last month, but when the mobile phone was delivered, she found that the mobile phone was out of order. Then they returned it. When she downloaded the SBI Yono app on October 25 to check the refund amount, a total of Rs. 1.80 lakh was deducted from her bank account, one by one. Soon after, she reached the branch of the local SBI Bank with her mobile phone and bank savings account. There, the bank official told them that her mobile phone had been hacked, causing money to be siphoned off from his account.

The officer advised to lodge a police complaint in this regard. After which Kanchan immediately reached Chapdani police station of Bhadeshwar police station. There the policemen instructed them that they would have to lodge a complaint with the cyber crime cell of chandannagar police commissionerate to investigate the case. She then went to the cyber crime cell of chandannagar commissionerate police and lodged a complaint in this regard, but kanchan has not been able to recover her money even after 15 days of filing the complaint. Police said that the case is under investigation and police are taking possible measures to solve the case.
