Berlin: The Astra electric vehicle was unveiled by German automaker Opel. Both hatchback and wagon body types are offered. The four-wheeler boasts of a sleek design, a spacious cabin and a plethora of tech features, which are its main selling points. It has a single motor and claims a range of up to 416 km on a single charge. The owner of an Opel Stellatis has decided to jump on the sustainable mobility bandwagon. By 2030, it will only sell electric vehicles in Europe. The Astra is being made available as an Electric Vehicle (EV) for the first time in its 32-year history. It should attract the interest of many buyers in the old continent as it shares mechanical similarities with the Peugeot E-308. It gets a long bonnet, a small grille which has been completely blacked out, matrix LED headlamps and a large air vent. It gets designer wheels, ORVMs and blacked-out B-pillars on the sides. At the rear, the car gets a shark-fin antenna, raked windscreen, window wipers and wrap-around taillights. The vehicle has a top speed of 170 kmph and can travel up to 416 km on a single charge. The Opel Astra Electric offers dark interiors with a head-up display, an armrest in the center console and a flat-bottom multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. Additionally, it gets a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel and a 10.0-inch digital driver's display. The latter is compatible with modern connectivity options. The price and availability of Opel Astra Electric is not available yet. However, the four-wheeler should cost around €35,800 in Europe. Whether it will make its India debut or not is unknown.
