Bhubaneswar: The case of rape accused married to the victim in Odisha has come to light. Following the court order, the rape accused got married to the complainant in an Odisha jail. Officials said in this regard. Chaudwar Area Jail Superintendent Kulmani Behera said that under-trial prisoner Rajesh Singh (23) from Gurudizhatiya area of the district married the rape victim inside the jail premises following orders from the Posco Court and DG (Jail). The officer said that the victim turned 18 last month. She became pregnant last year after the rape and is now the mother of a son. After marriage, the victim went to her in-laws, but prisoner Rajesh Singh would have to stay in jail for the next time because his bail application is to be heard again next month. The jail official said that earlier, while hearing the bail plea of the accused, the Posco court had said that it would be considered only when he marries the victim. Jail officials arranged for the marriage on Thursday with the help of a local NGO. The wedding took place in the presence of members of their families, friends and Posco court counsel. He said that later a feast was also organized in which other prisoners also attended.
