Chidambaram going through the worst phase of his political journey, got popular for this reason

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram is in trouble these days.  Chidambaram is counted among the most influential leaders in the country. He was popular for presenting the budget with the dreams of the common man. He was the Home Minister of the country. Chidambaram, who is known for its free trade and free economic reforms, was in favour of a government-controlled economy like the hard-left when he entered politics in the 1960s.

Chidambaram, a distinguished industrialist from Madras, stepped into politics instead of family business and joined the Congress in 1967 when it was out of power in the state. He did an MBA from Harvard Business School. He remained with Indira Gandhi in 1969 and 1984 when the Congress was divided. He was appointed Minister of State for Commerce in Rajiv Gandhi's Government. He was also the Minister of State in the government of Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.

He had the responsibility of the Ministries of Commerce and Industry. However, due to differences with some of the party's decisions, he left the Congress and formed a new political party in 1996. However, he then joined the Congress back in 2004 and became the country's finance minister. The CBI arrested senior lawyer-politician Palaniappan Chidambaram on Wednesday night on charges of money laundering and corruption in the INX media case. This may lead them to fight a long battle in the courts now. Along with Chidambaram, his son and wife are under investigation.
